Safe Neighborhoods

Every resident deserves to live in a safe community, and as County Executive, Jolene is committed to making that vision a reality. With the rise in violent crime since 2020, Jolene understands that protecting our neighborhoods requires bold action, a balanced strategy, and unwavering leadership.

1. Strengthening Law Enforcement
As Chair of the Council, Jolene fought to hire more police officers, recognizing the critical role they play in keeping our communities safe. With the Prince George’s County Police Department currently short over 400 officers, Jolene knows how vital it is to get the force up to full strength. She will work tirelessly to recruit and train officers who reflect the diversity and values of Prince George’s County, ensuring our law enforcement agencies are equipped to respond effectively while building trust with the community.

2. Investing in Youth Intervention and Prevention
Jolene knows that police aren’t the only solution for public safety. She has long advocated for stronger parental involvement and invested in programs that address the root causes of crime. As County Executive, she will expand these efforts by creating and funding intervention and prevention programs that provide mentorship, educational support, job training, and extracurricular opportunities for at-risk youth. By collaborating with schools, community organizations, and local businesses, we can give children and teens the tools they need to succeed and stay out of trouble.

3. Promoting Parental Accountability
Jolene believes that parental involvement is essential in addressing juvenile crime, particularly in cases of repeated serious offenses like carjacking and armed robbery. She will work with schools, community leaders, and law enforcement to hold parents accountable and ensure they actively participate in addressing their children’s behavior.

As County Executive, Jolene will work to make Prince George’s County a place where every resident can live, work, and thrive without fear. Together, we can build a safer, stronger, and more united Prince George’s County.
